Gasoline prices continue on a steady rise in 2009. In fact, gasoline prices in Aruba haven’t dropped once this year. Off course local “experts” will try to justify the hike with all sorts of  “smart” calculations, flawed comparisons to neighboring islands, transportation costs, insurance increases and other typical justification.

I’m going to make a study and try to find out the c0-relation between average gasoline prices in the US and Aruba, the inflationary pressures on the gasoline and compare it with data from other islands in the neighbourhood. The most challenging part of the study isn’t the data analysis, rather the data gathering. I’ll working on that for the next few weeks. At the end, I prefer to give an educated opinion on the matter, rather than emotions.
